Holter and Event Monitoring

Holter Monitor Testing:

This non-invasive and painless procedure utilizes a small recording device attached to several chest electrodes that continuously record your hearts activity for a 24-hour period. While wearing the monitor, you will need to keep a diary of the days activities and any symptoms you may experience.

Event Monitor Testing:

Similar to the Holter Monitor, this procedure documents irregular heart rhythms. When you feel an irregularity, you place the monitor on your chest to record a 30-second EKG rhythm. The rhythm will then be transmitted over the telephone to Virginia Cardiovascular Specialists for interpretation. You will be asked to maintain a diary of activities and symptoms during the testing period, which is usually one week.

Holter & Event Monitoring Testing is performed at all of our offices.
